Vietnam >>> Monkey Festival slated for June 1

A festival titled "Hoa Qua Son" to feature the story of the legendary monkey warrior Sun Wokong will be held by Long Phu Tourist Company in Hon Lao (Monkey Island), north of Nha Trang City in Khanh Hoa Province on June 1.

A troop of 800 monkeys live on the island which is a 15-minute boat ride from Luong Son Beach in Nha Trang. They are cared for by a management staff that is responsible for taming the monkeys and preventing the spread of any disease. There are also rabbits and salamanders on the island but all of monkeys are friendly, are the most popular attraction.

At the festival, children will play games including painting clay statues, meeting the characters in the story of the monkey warrior, riding ostriches and kayaking.
